Assistance given on bike rides much appreciated
This week, due to a late start, my 1st bike ride of my vacation turned into 2 rides, a couple of days apart.
When I went to the starting point on day one, Saturday, I stopped at a popular bike shop up the block to put air in a tire.
Their air pump was not useful on my tube, but the owner of Main Street Cyclery, of Seal Beach ( 135 Main, near the pier ), offered a remedy that he sells for $1.
A Presta valve Adapter!
He even showed me how to use it and, with my college edumication, I was readily able to grasp the concept.
Gas Stations beware, I'm now prepared!
I was so happy i bought a 2nd as a spare.
I spent a few minutes talking to dave about this blog, and offered him my card.
When he asked me for some for his customers I gladly gave him a stack.
Thanks Dave!
My tires fully pumped I rode off down the block.
Today, when I got off the bus in Redondo Beach, and started to ride, something jammed up my chain causing it to rub against something it shouldn't.
So I went to the nearest Bike Shop, South Bay Cycles, on PCH, for help.
Service Manager Robert diagnosed my problem, and solved it in minutes.
Meanwhile I talked with other staff about this blog, and offered a stack of my cards, which they accepted.
Don't let the incomplete website ( a work apparently in progress since 2003 ), throw you off as the contact info IS current.
Thanks, Robert, for the help!
Speaking of cards:
A few weeks back I'd left a stack of cards at the Long Beach Bike Station an hour after it had closed for the day.
Today, not only did I learn they didn't throw the cards away, but that folks have slowly been snapping them up.
Thank You, Bike Station!
If you do any riding in Long Beach, especially on a regular basis, this place is a must visit, and you might want to consider a membership ( It has its benefits ).
