My place in the BikeBlog Community

When I 1st began The Cycling Dude in January 2003 I was aware that I probably was NOT the only BikeBlog around.

I just knew I was probabaly the only one with the ambition to create a site with a cingular focus, and a determination to build the most unique, and comprehensive collection of links in the Bloggerverse, and the BikeBlog World as well.

When I rejuvinated the place, after a Fall 2003 Hiatus, the following March, I had finally worked out all of that purpose in my head, and had the confidence of 2 years as a Blogger to move forward.

Part in pride, part in humor,  I billed myself as "America's #1 BikeBlog!"

But I'm here to tell you, if you have not figured that out already for yourself, traffic-wise that may NOT be true.

You see, especiallly in the last 6 months to a year, as I've been discovering new BikeBlogs coming online, some I'm humbled, and proud, to say influenced by my example ( so I've been told ), I've also discovered more BikeBlogs, of the road, racing, and MTB varieties, and even a few BikeBlog Directories as well.

Some of those Blogs have been around since 2000.

They have, no doubt, a large amount of traffic.

Possibly double, and more, my daily numbers ( You are free to click on the Sitemeter Button on the bottom of this page to check out my Statistics. ).

That simple fact is astonishing when you think about it.

Since 2000! Who knew? ;-D

Some of these people have been cycling since I was a teen on a bike, in the 70's, and before, and are steeped in cycling knowledge, active in the business, and in the Advocacy Community, and have more time, and resources, not to mention computer expertise, than I, to put into what they offer on their Blogs.

There is no shame in my acknowledging this truth.

Many of these people  have welcomed me to the world of cycling with open arms, and some have credited me with giving them the idea, and even courage, to Blog.

So an Executive Decision has been made today to reflect, ACCURATELY, my position in the BikeBlog Community.

It is a claim reflected in the comments on Blog Posts, on Resource Pages on Cycling Related websites, around the world, in my own comments, in e-mails I recieve, and in the honor done me by inclusion in a Blogroll.

I am merely just...

One of the BEST BikeBlogs in the USA, and the World.

It is a claim that I aim to do my damndest to live up to.
