Taking the Trusty Steed to the Doctor

Yesterday I took my Trusty Steed in to the shop for the Bicycle equivalent of a Complete Physical and Colonoscopy ( Diagnosis ), Polyp Removal ( Cleaning and Lubing of Drive Train ), Joint replacement ( 1 set of new Brake Pads ) Joint Surgery ( True the Wheels, tighten the Head Set, Bottom Brackets, and Kranks ), Massage and Rubdown ( Adjust the Breaks and Derailers, and clean the Frame ).

All for $69. :-D  ( The last time I had all of this done was over 3 years ago. )

I also got a new Helmet, Mirror, Handlebar Pads, Tire, Tube, and Odometer. ( Another $144.95

Labor for installing the Tire, and Odometer, was another $18.

A bit more than I had planned to spend, but well worth it.

I rode the bike home, and it rode nice and smooth for the 1st time in a long time.

Cleopatra is purring like a kitten again, and I look forward to getting back in the saddle for many good long rides this year.

I must compliment Manny, the longtime expert Mechanic of Orange Cycle, in Orange Ca. for a job well done.

Manny 1st worked his magic on my Bike, in a small way, back in July, and I knew I'd return for this work when I was ready. ( I still need the Saddle, another new tire, and a new set of brake pads for the back brakes, but that can wait a month or 2 ).

This shop is a 36 yr. old Family operation, and everyone is friendly, and helpful.

The son, John Pavlisin, runs things now, I think, and helped me decide on my choice of helmet, and was interested in my Flyer about my Blog as well.

I left a stack of my new Flyer and if they prove popular will drop some off on a regular basis.

I think I've found my new Bike Shop. ;-D

Helmet = Bell Aquila Sport is one of the previous years models, but I liked it's look, and feel.( It's 20 vents are twice the number of my much cheaper, and quite a few years older, Bell. ).

BTW, Bell has an informative page on Helmets.

Oh, and the Bell Helmets: An American Legacy History Timeline is an informative 78 yr. journey through the History of the Company.

Tire = Specialized Armadillo.

Odometer = Cat Eye Micro Wireless.
