A Mississippi Town Becomes More Bicycle Friendly
Here is a nice story:
City leaders hope to connect the metro area with a web of pedestrian and bike trails.
Aldermen have voted to expand Ridgeland's web, approving an agreement with the National Park Service and Canadian National Railway for permission to construct a bridge over railroad property."We are extending our bike trail across 51, and it will come down the Trace to Highland Colony Parkway," Mayor Gene McGee said.
A portion of the bike trail will be relocated over Old Canton Road on the new Natchez Trace bridge. Estimated cost is $397,000, and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks has agreed to provide $207,000.

It’s great to hear that a Mississippi town is taking advantage of its proximity to the Trace. I have ridden parts of the Natchez Trace Parkway (mostly the northern section in Tennessee and N. Mississippi) and can attest that it is beautiful area.
